Happy Birthday ‘Queenie’!

In Australia we have many special and great talents, but there is one in particular that is ‘tops’. It seems we can manage to find any occasion to throw a party, in a long weekend form, and celebrate what ever we feel is necessary to have that extra day added to our usual ‘Saturday and Sunday off’ routine. And this weekend, for the fifth time this year, we will yet again be able to happily head out on a Sunday night with no worries of heading to work hung-over Monday morning. Hooray!

This time the occasion to celebrate involves our lovely Monarch of the Commonwealth Realms, Queen Elizabeth II, and her not so actual 88th birthday! Since 1788 Australia has been celebrating the Sovereign’s birthday with Queen Elizabeth II, although born April 21, celebrated in Australia on the second Monday in June each year. While only standing at 5’3 ft, this beautifully elegant and influential English woman has been ‘Her Majesty the Queen’ since the mere age of 25 and one of the strongest women of all time.

And since the Queen has given us a day off for her birthday, it would be rude for us not to do anything over the weekend. Come on… Do it for ‘Queenie’! So how should we celebrate?

Here is a list of what’s happening in Sydney over the weekend…
